Liz

Yoga Instructor & Studio Owner

Liz completed her Yoga Teacher Training in 2023 with Tammy Williams from Yoga NRG. Shortly after completing her YTT, Liz packed her backpack and headed to Thailand for a Yoga Intensive at The Yoga Retreat before relocating to live in London.

Returning to Mackay at the beginning of 2016, Liz rolled her Yoga Mat out and dusted off the chaturangas to start teaching casually at Yoga Fix while finding her feet again in Australia. By the end of 2017, Liz took over the studio from the wonderful ladies who started Yoga Fix.

Liz is currently on leave from teaching classes after welcoming their second baby boy She still manages the day to day running of the business and is excited to be coming back to teaching in the near future.

Liz loves delivering strong practices on the timetable with Power Yoga, Hot Yoga, Strong Power and the not so traditional (but FUN!) … Fiit Yoga, along with the juicy Long Slow Flow classes that we have on offer.

Liz is so grateful for our amazing Yoga & Pilates Instructors who take so much pride in their work to make the studio the best it can be in all aspects;

  • Quality Yoga & Pilates Classes
  • Community & Connection
  • Genuine care and joy in making our clients feel amazing within mind, body & soul

Caity

Yoga Instructor

Caity joined Yoga Fix many years ago on the advisory of her physiotherapist to help with a running injury. After some prodding, she completed her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training with Tammy from Yoga NRG throughout 2021, and has been one of our spritely studio staff ever since.

Caity grew up dancing and has been active her entire life. When a running injury presented itself, her physiological suggested yoga as a rehab practice… and, well, she hasn’t looked back.

Caity enjoys the stronger and challenging class styles to empower her students, but also loves the place that yin and gentle haha flows have in her practice.

While working full time as a Dietitian and teaching Yoga, Caity also enjoys hockey, hiking and running, recently completing her second half marathon. Such an inspiration in doing what makes you feel good and really doing it all (all of them).

Caity’s classes are encouraging and inspiring, insightful and uplifting. Be sure to check out her Hot Power Classes for some beautiful, thoughtful and challenging sequencing.

PS – Caity has also taken on the important role of Plant Caretaker for the studio as Liz is hopefuls, so when you admire the greenery – please be sure to thank her!

Yogafix_Yoga-pilates-Instructor-mackay-Lainey

Lainey

Yoga Instructor

Elaine (Lainey) has been one of our latest additions to the teaching team at Yoga Fix Mackay and we have had nothing but awesome reviews of her classes. She currently teaches mixed levels in Hatha, Vinyasa, Power (including Hot Power), Yin and Restorative styles of Yoga.

Elaine was first introduced to yoga over 20 years ago. Her practice was sporadic and intermittent, however recent years found her way back to the path of Yoga. She has since been practicing yoga asana postures consistently for a few years now, and was desperately keep to deepen her own yoga asana and meditation practices. She attended three Yoga Retreats (Australia and overseas) within 12 months; during which time she made a decision to become an instructor, to further deepen her practice and share the yoga vibe with others.

Despite a niggling musculoskeletal issue and a recent injury (note: neither were incurred during yoga practice), and an “it’s-never-too-late” attitude, Elaine grabbed her bags and flew off to Thailand to complete her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training (July 2019) during a month intensive under the unparalleled guidance of Principal Teacher & Program Director – Johnny Nasella (e500 RYT, YACEP) at Ananda Pure Yoga in Koh Phangan, Thailand.

Elaine is trained in Alignment Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga and Meditation. With an alignment focus, her classes aim to suit the individual person’s body and ability. To add to pas experiences in other modalities related to health and wellness, Elaine is also a Certified Level 1 Practitioner of Thai Yoga Massage (June 2018), trained by Danielle Mondays, lineage stemming from (late) Kim They Chow – founder of Lotus Palm School.

Elaine enjoys balancing her time between a high stress job which includes doing shift work, to chilling out and being in the studio. Elaine bring with her a professional background in anatomy and physiology and has a keen interest in alignment and functional anatomy. Her ongoing yoga journey and passion to learn, to discover all facets of Yoga, shows in her enthusiasm to teach and extend her teaching to be able to serve others; helping others discover the benefits and true meaning of Yoga.

On her Yoga journey she has discovered the overall insight of Yoga, and how as a whole Yoga has been beneficial to her own health and well-being, physically and spiritually. Because of this, she is deeply passionate about inspiring, motivating and guiding students through their own Yoga journeys, and encourages students to enjoy the experience of breath, movement and yoga philosophy; to apply the moments learnt on their mats, into their daily lives.

Elaine’s classes provide a safe, nurturing, and challenging environment to enable students to explore their boundaries. Her teaching is inviting and enjoyable. Joined with her karma, and joyful energy, Elaine’s calm, caring nature and genuine smiling self is conveyed to all.

An influential yogini and proud grandmother, Elaine’s grandchild has also found a connection to her own yoga mat – just as her Nanny does. Elaine is excited to have already planned on embarking on further training and yoga studies this year, to extend her knowledge and skills to everyone… Watch this space!

Be sure to come and try one of Elaine’s classes, you will love it and her!

Yogafix_Yoga-pilates-Instructor-mackay-Ash

Ash

Yoga Instructor

Ash was curious about yoga for some time and participated in his first yoga class in 2009 via the invitation of a close friend. There was some time between the first few classes, however, in late 2010, it became a regular activity in his life.

The early years were much about the LSD or yin yoga to offset his active lifestyle of running and triathlons. In 2013, he became a part time regular at Yoga Fix and ventured into some of the power and hot yoga classes, expanding his practice.

Ash’s curiosity to understand his practice deeper led him to complete his 200 hour training this year and his experience has shown him he is wanting to share yoga with others through teaching.

Yogafix_Yoga-pilates-Instructor-mackay-Lynn

Lynn

Yoga Instructor

Lynn completed the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2023, and then travelled to Cairns to continue her studies at Knoff Yoga, where she completed her 45 hours of Discovery training.

“The greatest blessings I have received in my practice has definitely been my mindset. Allowing yourself to be truly at one within and enabling others to connect with themselves. Our learnings on the mat are reflected in our everyday life.”

Lynn’s journey began when she entered the fitness arena. Having to address her own health concerns, she joined a local gym. She loved the community, and the way it made her feel, and was persuaded to training as a fitness instructor. Lyn later became a Personal Trainer, while working in a full-time capacity. Her love of all things training led her into different sporting disciplines including running, swimming, cycling and triathlon.

In 2016, Lynn was hit by a car and lost all mobility. Three years of rehabilitation led her back into the fitness arena, stronger, fitter and more determined to live life to the fullest.

“However, I also felt that someone was telling me to slow down, smell the roses, enjoy the little things. My scars and niggles are a constant reminder to myself to sit on my mat to balance my body and clear my thoughts.”

A set back with a knee impairment led Lynn to yoga. She thought her life was over, but what she didn’t was that it had just begun. “It is try the saying, “you don’t find yoga, Yoga finds you”, and when I sat on my mat, I just knew it was within me. I was whole and complete. The knee was another nudge to find myself again.”

Having trained as a Hatha teacher, Lynn loves sharing this gift with others. She enjoys classes that allow hr to challenge her practice and equally loves meditation which allows you to completely disconnect, while giving yourself joy, calmness and mindfulness.

Lynn thrives on community connection and all things arts and crafts. Her creativity and passion for Yoga allows her to keep grounded and add a touch of flair to her everyday life and practice.

Lynn looks forward to sharing her passions with you in the studio soon.

Yogafix_Yoga-pilates-Instructor-mackay-Annette

Annette

Pilates Instructor

Annette has been a part of the Yoga Fix community (family) since around 2009. A friend introduced her to Yoga Fix and many classes have become a permanent fixture in her weekly workout timetable! She particularly loves the Hot Power Yoga and her absolute favourite is the Strong Power Yoga (handstand class), and of course the Pilates classes. Annette is also a keen gym goer, runner, squash player and yogi.

Annette’s passion for movement has now brought her to us as our newest Pilates instructor. She believes that as we age, movement is vital to our health and wellbeing. Movement that grows strength, flexibility and mobility keeps us doing the things we love to do, as well as the things we need to do. And this is what motivates and inspires her to maintain movement in her own life, which has led Annette to take her first step towards helping others with their movement, and has become a Pilates instructor.

Annette works full time as a Primary School teacher, as the Health and PE teacher, teaching young children about the importance of moving their bodies for their health and wellbeing.

Annette is excited about sharing her knowledge of movement through her Pilates classes with the Yoga Fix community/family. Join her on the pilates mat to work towards growing your body’s strength, flexibility, and mobility, so you are ready for the challenges of daily life… for your whole life!

Yogafix_Yoga-pilates-Instructor-mackay-Brooke

Brooke

Pilates Instructor

Brooke joined the team in March 2023 as a casual Pilates instructor, but with a quick change of teachers needed to cover – Brooke turned into a studio staple and has since been a wonderful addition to our teaching team.

Brooke brings her own joyful, playful and thoroughness to her classes and everyone is always pulled to her sunny nature.

A lover of early mornings, treating herself with kindness through all forms, movement nature, food, good people and good times, Brooke really encompasses our motto of Be Good – Do Good – Feel Good.

We can’t imagine what our studio would be without her and so lucky she walked through our doors on a two week special to try us out.

Yogafix_Yoga-pilates-Instructor-mackay-Kinsey

Kinsey

Pilates Instructor

Kinsey is recently new to Mackay, having moved from America with her two young boys for her husband to work close to home. She has loved being here and becoming involved in the community.

Kinsey’s passion has always been around exercise, which stems from her career as a professional dance. While always being passionate about dancing, she fell in love with the type of exercises that kept her in shape, were enjoyable, and helped her maintain balance in life. She focused on taking pilates, yoga, barre, and cycle classes. They all offered different wats to strengthen and maintain her body. She decided, while performing, that she also wanted to teach Barre.

Kinsey travelled to Portland, Oregon, where she received her teacher training, and went on to teach in Las Vegas as well as Tasmania. She can’t wait to bring it to the people in Mackay. Kinsey is also certified to teach Yoga. When she fell pregnant with her first child she travelled to Sydney, Australia, and received her yoga training through Power Living Yoga. Knowledge is power, and both trainings have helped Kinsey become a better teacher and instructor.

Kinsey was able to continue barre throughout her entire pregnancy with the proper modifications, and again after having her babies. She loves that she feels the effects of class for a few days following, and sees the changes in her own body over time. Kinsey loves these types of classes because they are for everyone – it brings her so much joy and balance in the day.

Every student leaves stronger and wiser. Kinsey hopes to bring that to all of you.
